Looking forward to Worlds in Tabor!

So, I got stopped by the police motor-pacing yesterday...that was fun! I've seen several police cars while I've been out training, but this guy decided he wanted to give me a hard time. He stopped us to let us know that we couldn't drive with the hatchback open, and told me I had to keep a 'safe distance' from the bumper. I said 'Okay then', closed the hatch and proceeded with the motor-pacing. I guess it's a good thing he didn't look too closely at the bumper and see all of the burn marks from my tire! Thankfully, the bumper is high enough that it doesn't make a difference when you buzz it...

It was nice to be on top of it right away in Hoogerheide last Sunday and not have to play catch up - that's how I want to play the World Championships...I'll be there right away and let them try to "discard" of me. That's worked well for me in the past, and I'll have a good start position since I'm pretty far up there in the points now - I think I'm in the second row, so that can't hurt either!

I'm flying out to the Czech Republic today and my family is coming out to watch. We have an apartment there in the Tabor region. Bob Downs, who is the owner of Planet Bike, will be staying with us too - it will be nice to see him, he's always super supportive. Planet Bike is great, they are also a huge supporter of bicycle advocacy initiatives around the country!

Zdenek Stybar is on top of things right now and will be super motivated at home. I did the old Tabor course which is in the same area, but not this new course. It's a race that could easily blow apart. Unless the course is really fast, some gaps will be opening pretty quickly.

Niels Albert has a broken rib...last year I rode with four broken ribs without telling anybody!! It was during the time I had the problem with my missed doping control test.  I didn't want to add any more fuel to the fire and have it end up with the UCI giving me a suspension citing the fact that I couldn't ride anyway. At first I only had three broken, but then I broke another during the Roubaix warm-up...

Let's just say I don't really feel bad for him!

I'm feeling good and will take my best shot at a medal!!

Thanks for reading,
Jonathan
