I think it's time for a new TT Thread. I cut and paste this from the old forum from last year and the results. Shall we pick a date and do this for a new and improved 2013 edition?

Who's in?

 **************** MAY TT RESULTS ****************

20K VELONEWS FORUM VIRTUAL TIME TRIAL - 13 racers
THE WINNER WAS SARPIN WITH A TIME OF 30:18!
Rounding out the podium were Jacobus in second, and jlmitch1 and nightfend tied for 3rd.

1 Sarpin 30:18 24.55 mph
2 Jacobus 30:24
3 jlmitch1 30:40
3 nightfend 30:40
5 habanero 31:03
6 blue zurich 31:49
7 pabiker 32:08
8 stronz 33:00
9 exvile 33:45
10 burlap chamois 34:21
11 orange crush 34:55
12 big dan t 38:15
13 cripesmoe! 39:50 18.67 mph

Good luck breaking the 30 minute barrier! So get out, ride, post your times, again keep the story-telling to a minimum. Pics of the GPS and bike are cool though. Round two is open until the end of the TdF.

I think I may have a go at this at some point this season. Why the hell not?

I thought I had nailed a good course on that previous attempt but it turned out into a bit of P-R type pavement. With the focus on Colorado this year I gotta work on climbing though, no time for side-tracks.

@canuklehead - I cleaned up the format for you, I hope you don't mind.

@cycling chick - Let me see if I can get my friend Marion to post a time here for motivation (for everyone, not just you! )...

Are there any more details? i.e. - it sounds like it should be flat.

Yeah, steve...just keep it as flat as possible.

I may give it a shot one AM down at Haines Point.

Have we decided on a date or is it within a time frame?

i wasn't in the last one.
steve, thanks for cleaning that up (and thanks for this forum btw!).
cycling chick, i can recruit one more chick who'll be up for the challenge, she likes strava records...
we should try and do this before the start of the tour maybe?
OC - BN...i didn't do this last time because i did not feel fit enough, but really who cares. could be fun. and BN, there's not too many flat roads around here either! i'm thinking though, an out and back would be fairest so that nobody is setting any records with a massive downhill or tailwind.
any other ideas or for those that did this before, did you pick a weekend to do this on and everybody reported, or what?

cycling chick there is no time frame, that is the cool thing about it.

When u get a chance, do a 20k TT and then post the particulars. It is on a honor system.

With no sign of my PF easing anytime soon, I am gonna set a goal of a sub-hour 40KTT as my primary race goal for the year. Happens the last weekend in August, which is good. Haven't been on the bike in weeks due to low motivation and have been playing golf instead. Have plenty of time to gear up for it.

How about by July 4th? Then we can do another one in the Fall.

Can I just submit 100X my 200m TT time? How about 20X my standing-start kilo?

Guess I can go to Encino or San Diego to get some dedicated track time for a 20k. GPS doesn't work in LA Velodrome. That massive concrete & rebar roof blocks signal.

How about we all meet in San Diego for three laps of Fiesta Island. Actually three laps plus a few hundred meters. It is an officially measured and sanction TT course.

I am in

I can do early July, or a result from thereabouts. We have a 20K tt series every month, first weekend, so July may work. It is a rolling course and typically windy, so I'll have to work extra hard ;-)

Yeah, we have a 20K training TT every month now in our area as well. So I'll post my time after the race. The last time I did the Velo TT, I used a road bike with no aero stuff. This time I'll have my TT bike, disc wheel, skinsuit, etc.

I'm in but don't be expecting anything earth shaking from me. TTs are not my strong suit. Actually I'm still looking for my strong suit.

Waiting for my new 10spd bar end shifters to head out. We'll need a new thread for results. The one where you only post your time. This one is already a hot mess.

No. If it's fun you're not doing it correctly

You know what would be a cool event - a 20k TT XC MTB loop! Make that 3 by 6 1/3k laps or 4 by 5k and you have a spectator sport on top of it.

Today a 39K TT foe me, but they had a couple of groups doing 20K which went out on the same course so they had a line at the 20K mark. I crossed it at 29:32.
