Well it looks like this Saturday's El Tour de Tucson is going to be a soaker. Any suggestions on a packable, lightweight, water resistant, rain jacket? I have an old O2 but its, ahem....a bit too snug.

Klim makes a really good Gore-Tex one but it might be hard to find in AZ. About $200.00

Showers Pass. They make several. Fit and details are excellent and you stay as dry as is possible. The detail I like the best is the two way zipper so you can access pockets without unzipping the whole jersey. Akso allows you to cneter the zippers for climbing with an easy zip at the top, no starting zippers and no billowing (airbrake) jacket.

The unlined jackets roll up to jersey pocket size easily. I've done it riding no-hands many times. The lined jackets don't fit in pockets but the lining means the water barrier lasts a long time and goes on without your damp hands snagging the thin film.

I have three Showers Pass. A lined one which is my winter commuter. Two unlined ones. The first was my first Showers Pass. The barrier died years ago so that jacket is now just the best riding windbreaker I've ever owned. The new unlined is reserved for big rides. I'm trying to make that stay waterproof for a few more years.

Prices (a bit if a guess; I haven't paid a lot of attention) are probably around $160 unlined and $249 lined.

Now, if they would just add a mesh pocket on the outside for soaking wet gloves for that espresso stop! I've suggested that to the owner, but I haven't seen it yet.

I have seen the Showers Pass jackets at MEC but have not looked into them much. They do look great. I tried a couple on to try them for fit but because I had recently bought something else for cheap, I did not purchase. Probably should have. I have a Race Face waterproof breathable mountain bike jacket. Cheap crap falling apart fast. I have an Endura MT500. Great fit and features but crappy DWR. In fact as far as i can tell zero DWR so the fabric wets out instantly and then can't breath as a result. Fail. I have a Gore rain jacket that packs up small but has no pit zips and the cuffs are too tight to go over my rein gloves. Fail but a great summer squall jacket for the pack or pocket. I have a Bontrager road that is vwery good except what I thought were better sized cuffs, is only marginally better than the Gore jacket.

This year I bought yet another rain jacket that is working out very very well. Sugoi http://www.sugoi.com/usa/2013/fall/bike/men/outerwear/rsx-neoshellr-jacket.html RSX jacket is damn near perfect. So far it sheds water really nicely and it is pretty light and breaths well so it is a lot less clammy that other jackets I have tried. The RSE is the road version.

Does the Segoi have a two way zipper? (I have liked all the Segoi stuff I've used a lot.)

Endura, good stuff, especially the MTR Shell, nice and breathable.
