Finally got the Venge completed. Full spec:

2013 Venge Pro frame / fork Drivetrain: Ultegra Di2 10 speed Crank: Specialized S-Works Carbon 53/39 Brakes: Mavic SSC Saddle: Fizik Arione Stem 3T HB: Zipp Vuka Sprint Carbon Cages: Zipp Carbon Computer Mount: SRAM Trainwheels: Powertap / DT Swiss rear, Easton Velocity front Race Wheels: Zipp 404 (pre-FC, non-dimpled)

Note to self - maiden voyage for a new bike should not eb a trainer ride where the intensity is controlled by the Computrainer (i.e. no shifting!!)

Short group ride this AM.....bike was great. SP slipped a little halfway through the ride, but got that squared away. Still trying to get used to the shifting "paddles for Di2. I remain steadfast in my early criticism of using the same style shift paddles for this system instead of buttons. But past that.....this schitt is awesoome. Shifts are effortless and the front shifting is unreal.

Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

I just don't see that handling well on rough, lose, technical single track.

Sweet ride!

Carbon assembly paste works wonders for low torque seat posts.

sick!
That's a slammed stem, 'fer sure. I couldn't ride that and be capable of walking the next day. You've got good flexibility or long arms.

Dale, I've always been able to fold myself over pretty well....even though my flexibility overall sucks. More about hip rotation than flexibility, I think.

Guys on our group ride hate being on my wheel....besides the fact that I am low, I am skinny. Just no hole behind me.....

Additional note - I opted for the 10 spd stuff for 2 reasons:

* 11 spd is dumb. I don't need it around here.
* I got all the Di2 stuff for about $1K....super cheap (and it is the battery and charger that really adds to the price)

If / when I get forced into 11 spd, I can just replace the RD, chain and cassette. Unlike a mechanical system, it is the RD that controls how many shifts occur. All the "10 spd" shifters can work with 11 speed and vice versa. The shifters just send a shift signal to the RD.

Doing a couple of longer rides this weekend. I strained my calf this week running (shocker - I got hurt running again), so I am stuck with the bike for now. I'm gonna throw on my race wheels for tomorrow. I'll post another pic of the bike with my fast wheels this weekend.

Nice ride. 11 Spd is over rated, unles you are going to climb for hours and then sprint to the finish line going down hill.

Looks fast! What brand is the frame? They must've forgot the decal.
Nevermind, it's on the water bottles.

Chinook for the win!

Have fun on that thing, Cosmic. I still grin every time I get on board my new bike.

Nice build, where did you put the battery?

Really smart going with older 10 speed electronic. I was going to do the same thing but I was afraid of spare parts. After I went 11 I wish I had stuck with the 10 speed electronic idea

LOL...chinook wins the internet for the day!!

Ride On - battery is in the seat tube. Specialized makes a mount for the seat post but they are sold out, but it seems to be just fine dropped into the tube. No rattling around so far....

Really glad I stuck w/ 10 spd. He I gone to 11, it would have been a major hassle switching my race wheels between my tri bike and this one. And since I only use about 7 cogs on the back anyway, it would have been a complete waste.

Haven't ridden Shimano in over a decade (all Campag)....I forgot how nice it is to wrap your fingers around the front of the brake levers when out of the saddle.
