OC, you mentioned you lost a WB descending a gnarly grade in the Adirondack post. What kind of WB cage were you using?
I"m still using steel cages simply because they hold WBs. That is only criteria I feel is important. CUrrently the King stainless cages are on most of my bikes. They are fun because if you stuff the bottle in crooked, you will discover miles later when you reach down for it, the bottle is just as crooked as you stuffed it.
Didn't want to drift the thinline's great thread.

I have always lusted for King titanium cages but never pulled the trigger. I had a small frame that could not hold the bigger bottles so I went for a side load cage. All that was available was the Arundel carbon cage. I never loose a bottle and that includes really rough mountain bike trails at speed. I have also used the Specialized side loaders and regular ones in plastic with good results. The Pro also holds a bottle firmly but it is hard to remove the bottle and put it back smoothly.

I'm with Ben. I have King stainless on all three of my regular rides. They work great. The titanium version is sweet, but I'm not willing to pay that much extra for a few ounces saved.

Steel Ben. Let's not overanalyze this; simple combination of larger completely full bottle and a bumpy forest road. Don't recall ever losing a bottle before (I retrieved this one).

Blackburn Switchback (SS) for me. Lusted over ti cages also, but not willing to fork over that much money. Only time I lost a bottle is when I was really tired and was putting my bottles back in the cage and missed!
