Got the ol' CX bike up and running last night. Literally been years (6 or 7) since I had this out. Figured since I actually ahve some run form, I may as well try a couple of cross races again this year. Of course, I haven't been on my bike since Madison.....so we'll see ho that turns out!!

Specs: Ti frame (w/ disc tabs....we were the first ones to do this for Interbike back in 2000), Wound Up Cross fork, DA7700 shifters, XTR crank, XT FD, Tiagra RD, Spinergy SPOX wheels, TUFO tubulars

Off for a ride @ lunch.

Looks fun. That is quite the specimen. A true cx bike. Where are all the races at down there?

A recent article I saw, JPow was saying how disadvantaged he is in the run in Europe. Said he was passed by Alberts going twice as fast as he was and has spent the summer working on speed work for running to be competitive against the Euros.

The bike is probably too big for me, unfortunately. I can get a good position on it, bit it is a pretty high bike and the HB position speaks for itself.

SPOX wheels are getting jettisoned....what pieces of crap. had so much play in my rear wheel after my lunch ride that the wheel was constantly rubbing the brake pads. Now I need to decide if I am gonne glue the tubulars onto my Zipp wheels or buy clincher tires for my training wheels and use them. If I go the tubular route, I'm gonna need new brake pads, etc.

LOL....that is a Garmin Virb camera.

The SP is there because it was 1) free and 2) the only 27.2 post I had back when I bully it up. Was just searching the other day for a new post. Found a nice Zipp alloy post for ~$55 that I'll probably pick up.

But don't underestimate the joys of a nice suspension post.

j_a, judging from the square forehead and size, that's gotta be a sperm whale, but it is an extremely rare one, an albino. Now, if the CX course gets deep puddles, that whale could be a real asset. Sperm whales have excellent sonar so navigation should never be a problem for CK, and it will be able to bring him and bike up from puddles as deep as a mile.

Nice looking ride.

I suspect that the running demands in CX are somewhat different from those in an IM though. 1hr versus 11.5hr effort

Good on 'ya for getting out and wanting to jump back into cross.

The Wound Up forks are on my all time favorite list

I'd use that as a commuter, but it is Ti, which is pretty awesome, and pick up a new cross bike if you are digging the racing, some fantastic options out there these days

I remember when Mongoose was making good frames. Back in 97-2000 or so. So you were behind that, eh?

Good times man.
