So the new frame will have a 44mm head tube so I can't reuse my old headset. The rear will be thru axle so it would be nice to have a thru axle fork though that is not imperative. The only thru axle forks with fender mounts are all carbon with tapered steerers and I am not crazy about the potential for a fender rubbing on a carbon fork, so I am considering to reuse my woundup fork which has an alloy crown. It looks like the steerer has 1cm so I should be good there. I'd like to leave the path open for upgrading to a new fork in a year or so should an acceptable one come on the market. Being cheap, I'd like to have a high likelihood of reusing the headset at that time.

So the question is can I get the headset which works with a 1-1/2:1-1/8 tapered steerer and adapt it to work with my existing straight 1-1/8 steerer?
