I'm for 'em.

Moots came through with a new frame. Except for the dealings with the shop, it was a fun process. The build hinged on a decision made long ago with the old frame to have it fab'd with 135mm rear spacing with disc tabs. When I went to upgrade the wheels last fall, I went with mtn hubs and against the advice of forumites, went with the chris king hubs. My thinking was I was limited to the types of hubs and would never want to go to 11sp anyway and wanted totally user-serviceable hubs, 36 spoke rear for touring. Then the frame cracked and now with thru-axle, shimano hydraulic 11sp available, it would make a good build. However the kings can't be upgraded to 11sp so I was stuck with these really awesome wheels that have no market value except on the old frame. Luckily they can be upgraded to thru-axle. I had also just purchased the TRP hy/rd brakes, so I decided to upgrade the brifters and rear derailleur (to medium cage so I could run a 30t for touring). So it's all done. It's a nice refresh. My garage is back in balance again and I can ride a Moots any day of the week, rain or shine.

And it's legal in NYS with the bell!

Have you started shopping yet, OC? New or used? Price range?

Smokey, I am lost without that bell. Can ding it once from a distance to let a jogger know I am harmlessly passing. Ding twice so a group of joggers know they are hogging the path and I'd appreciate if they give some space. And repeated dings if someone appears clueless and dangerous. And seems to penetrate earbuds just fine.

sometimes legal is also effective. Not sure about the rules in Michigan, but if they are similar to NY, the officer involved in the posted event could have cited lack of signaling device instead of obstruction, and it might have held up on appeal.

Very Nice!! Discs are the only way to go in the rain, I have a drop bar 29er that I use as my bad weather / rainy day bike, and what I love about discs is no black brake pad grime from the rims!! First time I rode them in the rain, I was shocked at how clean my still was even after riding in a downpour

Been seeing Lynskey sales online, you can usually find a pretty sweet deal there when they do this
