LOL....

There is a reason chin-drive systems still remain the standard. They work the best. Simple, and most importantly, efficient. Until you make a system that is, at a minimum, as mecahnically efficient as a chain-drive, you are wasting your time (from a performance perspective, at least).

I won't even mention the irony of putting that Rube Golberg system on a tri bike..... #notaero

I don't know - you break a shoelace on your tennis shoes while riding, and voila, you've got replacements right there on the drive. No reason you need to use both sides of the drive...

It looks like it only delivers power on the down stroke. Now that recent studies tel us that what we were taught to do 40 years aqo is impossible, I guess that works fine.

Ingenious system. Looks like it could be made very light. No chain, cassette or rear derailleur. Looks to me like the crank could be cleaned up and lightened. Also looks like a system that could do better on wear and wear expense. No chain or cogs. That string looks far cheaper (not as a prototype but after 130 years), the triangular drive plate will cost considerably more than a chainring but should last far longer. Lighter, simpler BB also.

CK, this looks to be pretty efficient mechanically if good bearings are used in the pulley and the crank contact. Losses probably no worse than in the chain links and chaincog interface (and far easier and more pleasant to keep clean enough for optimum operation!).

My biggest question is on the system's ability to utilize a full circle of input. If if is push only, I'm out. (Now, if the BB is up to close to traditional for being able to transmit torque, then the other side could trransmit the upstoke power.)
