I just saw this in Bike Forums. fietsbob, a slightly odd long timer of the Forum says he;s used a 2nd clamp, sized to the seatpost itself, just above the seattube. Simple, easy! And you get to keep your post properly greased/never-seized so you can get it out again.

Too good a tip to not share. (I know, many would shudder at how "wrong" it is to have two clamps. Others about the grams and money spent.)

The old Coke-can shim always worked for me....and now carbon paste serves that purpose, as well, even on a steel / alloy bike.
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

CK,my Mooney spent many years on a Coke can shim and a SunTour MTB post. (Two bolt at last and half the price of the better looking road post. And finally an end to my decade long purgatory of the Laprade, set between clicks. Perfect tilt but I knew it would never happen again if I loosened the bolt.)
I'll have to remember the paste. Still I can see how the second clamp could have benefit if the first was a touch too large and bottoming out ot the seat lug was distorted.

Coke can shim fan here as well. Sometimes the simplest answer is the, well, simplest.

Dale, those shims also do a great job of taking 25.4 handlebars out to 26.0 stems.

Also good for blood letting... not that I'm actually admitting to anything completely uncoordinated.

My 16 year old Colnago Master X-Light has needed a beer can shim since day one. It got worse over time. I now have two shims shoved down the seat tube. I've owned one aluminum bike and two carbon bikes and none had had slipping seatposts...

My November frame came with a double clamp that clamped on the frame and the seat post. It would be great for CX
