The shop where I train is changing owners, so I managed to get a sweet deal on a new ‘cross sled. 2017 Specialized Crux Elite 1x with Rival drivetrain and hydraulic discs. Took it out yesterday for it’s maiden voyage.
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

Sorry about the wide pic....

The brake hoods are ugly AF, but they are awesome to grab onto when really going hard on the bike. Love the discs.....

Too bad disc brakes on road and 'cross bikes will never take off and major brands such as Specialized will never spec 'em.....

Beautiful! How does it ride? Just eyeballing it, looks like a lower than usual BB for cross. Which could make it much nicer to ride except when some extra clearance is needed. Maybe the 1x setup fixes that, too.

I hated the levers with a red hot passion when I saw them on J-Pow's cx bike several years ago but have since gotten used to them and like the feel. Disc on a cx bike changed racing for me.
Same thing on the 1x with a clutch RD, no dropped chains on carries or remounts. Cool set up there.

Bike rid3s great...I had (actually still have) another Crux with canti’s And 105,so the overall ride is nit too different. Quick and agile....but absolutely love the discs. Not that I really need them around Chicago, it is still nice to be able to go into turns a wee bit faster and know that you can still brake strongly and come out alive.

I am seriously considering selling my S-Works Venge and getting a Canton AeroRoad Disc bike next....bike is in the shop now to get the BB looked at. If the creaking doesn’t stop, it is up on eBay.

I notice that the fork is a "fact" fork. If they make a non disc version, is that an "alternative fact" fork?

Sweet looking ride. I had the same exact reaction you did on the brakes/hoods when I got my cross bike a few years ago. They aren't as pretty as Campy or whatever, but they sure do stop the bike.
