One of the most memorable slow wheel changes in cycling history was Hennie Kuiper, Paris Roubaix 1983, while he was in solo lead. It seemed to take forever before he got a replacement. It's one of those moments that got me hooked on cycling back in the day.

One of the more memorable Froome moments is him hiking up Alpe without a bike.

If a disc equipped bike causes a slow wheel change at some point it won't be a first and let's hope its equally memorable.

I like the current design, it works well and looks slick. And yes, saw some of those vintage moto setups with setup in front of fork. Crazy looking and there's a reason its not more widespread. Tempest in a glass of water.
