Just finished the build last night did a quick spin around the block. Now I'm getting ready to take the real first ride out on some of my favorite haunts. The particulars: New, old-stock Gios Megalite frameset. I also found a similar Gios that had a bent frame that I pulled most of the parts off then added a new bar/ stem combo that fits me better than the Cinelli crit bar. Also went with a matching Fizik saddle similar to what;s on my other bikes. Changed out the internal ring on the rear shifter to a 10v and used a newer wheelset. 10 > 7, right? What am I going to wear? Black shorts and a Roger De Vlaeminck Brooklyn Chewing Gum blue/white/red jersey of course PS. Don't tell me to drop the stem... in addition to the photo angle making it look higher than it is I am 30 years past slammed stems

Ben might be older-school. That dropout looks mighty short. You could run three different cogs without messing with the chain and just maybe 4 using a half-link (My Reynolds 501 Peugeot, circa 1990 had a different but very similar short dropout. 3 cogs with half link was the limit. That said, beautiful bike! Everything just looks right. Enjoy it! (And thanks for considering us!) And yes, bars and stems gotta be right for you. I've never tried the Cinelli 65s (I'm guessing that is what you mean when you say "crit"). I love bars with rounded shoulders; I don't bruise my forearms climbing in the drops, but i have never felt the drops of Cinelli bars was what my hands really liked. I was much more a fan of the TTT shape the Japanese copied so often. Ben

I've got two more steel frames, an older than the Gios; a Tomas (lugged with a chrome fork) that I'll build fixed, and my Carl Strong lugged bike that will get the full modern treatment--> 11v Campagnolo, etc.

But that is where my eye and mind go immediately whenever I see those horizontal bits.

Very nice! Like the color choice of white for the saddle and tape. Enjoy that steel ride. Actually chose that GIOS blue for my vintage bici.
