Was surprised at how few people they employ. 250?
I've been a ride or die fan of the brand since I first got into cycling. Remember how thrilled I was to build up a custom set of Campy Chorus hubs with their new Reflex rims. My first Mavic product!
I sure hope they survive but they've been struggling for a long time. A real shame. The yellow Mavic logo is a big a part of cycling as the Maglia Rosa or the yellow jersey.

This story appears to have some interesting twists in it:

Definitely a mess.

Road wheels, mtb wheels, road and mtb shoes, road helmet, I've used and continue to use a lot of Mavic product. That would be a real bummer if this 100 + year company were to disappear. The French in general are skeptical of US investment funds raiding foreign companies for a quick profit and leaving them to die, and this unfortunately appears to be the case.

There are several of us who are skeptical of US private equity funds in general, they’re sort of like a snake. When they bite everyone feigns shock as if the snakes nature is to serve tea and crumpets.
But back to Mavic, sad day if the iconic yellow support vehicles disappear.
One of the rims I wanted but never bought, was the one with the ceramic braking surface.

They were great innovators, but went down some dead ends with their wheels, new stuff that is hard to work on and not really an improvement, but maybe just to make money. Pissed me off enough times I never went back.

My old guy, sentimental memory, is getting my first pair of GP-40s.

I call your GPs and add Fiamme red labels. Or yellow labels if you are a flyweight.
Oh wait - that's why we loved Mavic back in the day, for making a better mousetrap.

Ha. That's why I switched to the Mavics. Didn't get flat spots from bad roads. LOL.
