Hey, I'm just trying to build up my post stats as it seems that I am thousands of posts behind. Yet it feels like I'm constantly yacking. Just pondering the idea of a 1x set-up if I were to go for the 3T Exploro race Max and use it also for road with a separate set of wheels. Campy has the new Ekar 1x with 13 gears, and would make the somewhat heavy Exploro a bit lighter. However, I am riding 2x's with a 34x28 as my easiest climbing gear and would definitely like a little easier in my next bike. As Ekar has the option of a 38t chainring and 10-44 for the cassette, how does that compare, as I am having a hard time figuring out the whole gear inches thing, since I just want to know the equivalent of what I am presently riding and wanting easier gearing for future climbs.

I am not sold on 1x. It is getting close though.
My 2x GRX setup has 46/30 front rings with 11-36 cassette
46/11 = 4.18
30/36 = 0.83
Ekar 1x
38/10 = 3.8
38/44 = 0.86
So the two are comparable at lower end but the 1x is lacking at higher speeds (gearing). It then depends a bit on terrain you are planning to ride. I.e. if there's a lot of fast downhills and you expect to need the top end gearing maybe 2x isn't right but if you can do without top end gears, then yes. I have been using the full range of my 2x gearing on gravel rides.
Of course a front derailleur is liable to freeze solid as we found out on a ride last October (haha).

You mean like windmills in Texas?

The TX windmills weren’t winterized. TX made a bet they could save some money. They won that bet many years in a row.
There are functioning windmills in Antarctica.
Wind is about 10% of TX power in the winter. It was the frozen fossil fuel and nuclear plants that shut them down.

TX makes Don Quixote look patently sane on the subject of tilting at windmills.

lsd - a little joke for the conspiracy folks.
Unless one is blind, anyoney that has ever flown over Texas can see what energy the state is dominated by.

I'm not sold on 1x....not even for gravel. Jumps are too big between gears and not enough low-end yet (for gravel) w/o exacerbating the gaps between gears.
I am actually going to swap my gravel bike over from 1x to 2x this year.
Well, unless I can get Ekar at wholesale, which a buddy is working on for me.
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!
