For rim brake wheels, can clincher tires be used with rims that are meant for tubeless tires? I am specifically talking about the new Zipp carbon wheels. I cannot make heads or tails of what they are offering. It seems to me that all their new wheels are tubeless and disc brake exclusively. I know I'm missing something here but I don't know what.

If they are hooked rims, then yes you can use normal clincher tires, but you cannot run them tubeless. You have to use a tube in them.

While MTB wheels can be converted to run tubeless with basically any tire, road tires require higher pressure which makes running regular clinchers as tubeless dangerous.

Also, never run tubeless with rim brakes.

Does that help any?

Why not tubeless with rim brakes?
My Ritchey CX bike is set up that way and has been for years with zero issues. 30-60psi.

My confusion is this, as an example-

https://www.sram.com/en/zipp/models/wh-404-ftlr-a1

Rim construction-carbon w/hooks.

Tire Compatibility-Tube-type or Tubeless tires. Does this means tube-type is "clincher"?

Sorry, I'm feeling particularly dense today.

Here are a couple more questions that I need help with. I posted this on weight weenies but as usual I got crickets.

Since I cannot source the Specialized saddle I ride in the color celeste, am I able to have my current saddle re-dyed, or is that not a good idea?

My other option is to purchase a beat up Selle Italia saddle in celeste and have it repaired. Which option do you guys think is best, and does anyone know if anyone provides such services in the US?

For seatposts, stems and handlebars, could I use this torque wrench, or do I need one with a bigger range?

Wait, what? I run tubeless rim-brake wheels all the time. One pair of aluminum Ksyriums and the other full carbon clinchers. Did I miss the memo?

I’m still trying to figure out what kind of colour Celeste is. Let alone the technical questions.

Maybe I’m mistaken, but I thought running tubeless on clincher road rims was a bad idea due to heat build up.

Actually, now that I thing about it, the first tubeless road systems were introduced long before discs. Ignore me.

OC, Celeste is the classic Bianchi color. Do we need to revoke your membership?

And like all classic tales, the actual color depends on the storyteller and age of said Bianchi.  (Given the range, OC might be able to weasel his way into staying.)

Your honour, these aren’t shades they are major shifts in the RBG spectrum. At the interface where I am always battling others as to whether we’re looking at a shade of green or blue.
