The idea that a company as massive as Giant feels the need to do this reflects poorly on their marketing department.

LOL, that is funny!

The Giant wins in the ugly department, that much is clear. Don't need no tunnel for that.

isn't there a business connection between Giant and Specialized?

I know that Giant built a lot of their high end bikes at one time. I am fairly certain that there is no Specialized factory either like a lot of products design is in house and manufacturing is farnmed out to independent contractors.

Well, it is not quite accurate to say Specialized doesn't manufacture anything anymore. Merida bought 49% of the company some years ago and they are the #2 bike manufacturer in the world (behind Giant). So technically, I suppose, Specialized does some of their own manufacturing now......but through their "partner / owner", Merida.

I knda like the challenge from Giant. Back in the day, we got into a little corporate back & forth" with Specialized in some of our advertising. They put some very small, Spanish text in one of their ads saying "Ignaz es muerte"....a jab at us and our references to Ignaz Schwinn in our advertising. We responded similarly in one of our ads (forgot what we said) and there were a few months of back and forth. All in good fun and for the consumers who picked up on it, it was good for a laugh.

Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!
