After 4 years on my Cervelo S2, I decided it was time for a change. Ordered up a Specialized Venge today....,

Wanted to go with some aero road bars. The Zipps have been popping up occasionally on Chainlove, but hadn't seen them in awhile.....was just trolling over there and.....VOILA!!!

$150 for these bars is a SCREAMING deal.

Now I just have to tell Mrs. CK about it......*shudder*

Nice CK - that was going to be my next frame but the way things are going I will wait for next iteration; disc ready. Next couple yrs bike moneys will have to go to trips, not hardware.

Beg for forgiveness later?

What happens to the S2 now? That's an amazing deal on the Zipp handlebars.

Congratulations on the new ride. Going to look sweet with the Zipps. Just don't wear an Air Attack, OK? That's over the top.

That's gonna be a fast bike for sure!

I hope it's not one of those knockoffs...

enjoy!

Funny thing about the cervelos in the shop the other day. They all have gray or black and white paint schemes. Out of all the bikes on the shop floor, regardless of brand, not a single bike without compact cranks. I'm not guessing you need or want a compact crank where you live.

The S2 will get eBayed to offset the cost of the Venge. Even with that, I bailed on telling Mrs. CK last night. Have to ahve that conversation tonight, I guess.

@ Chinook - I confirmed the serial # before I bought it.

Yeah, Cervelos went primarily compact a couple of years ago for the tri bikes. I briefly had a P2 and it had compacts....a complete waste for me. I really only used about 6 cogs....and I was running an 11-21, IIRC. The only time I used the small CR was when we were on vacation in the Wisconsin Dells and I went for a few rides with actual hills.

I think the the majority of people, compacts are great and make sense. But if you live here or someplace like FL, they make zero sense.

If you have kids, you might be able to get away with saying the old bike will be a hand-me-down. My son picked up my old Giant this weekend and will attempt a 40mi charity ride with me this weekend. Nice 9sp dura-ace/ksyriums. Not bad for a 13 year old! The bike is older than he is!

I hope the dog house is big enough for you and the frame.

Congratulations!

Sorry about the thread drift, but...Chinook, let us know how the son does on the 40-miler. Hope he has a ball!

Well, looks like my decision was made for me......S2 popped out of the fork clamp on my roof rack and took a tumble. Right brifter is shattered....looks like it is Ui2 for the Venge!!!

Hmmmm. Mrs CK is very suspicious of that story. It just popped out , I had to get new shifters , sure sure. Buddy you really are living on the edge.

In addition to Mrs. CK's suspicion the rest of us are looking at this with a jaundiced eye as well.

I'll be happy to post a pic of my shattered right brifter later today.....

Looks like I can get an Ultegra 10 spd Di2 kit for less than a grand (full drivetrain, less the crank and cassette). The actual components aren't that bad, it is the damn battery and charger where they kill you. Over 25% of the cost is in those pieces!!

So your S2 had to take the fall so you could have new toys. Man, that is LOW :-)

We're totally believing that the bike fell off.

We totally believe the house across town burned down.

The evidence is irrefutable so post the pics if you want.

The house was vacant more than two years, the owners were upside down a couple hundred G's, and there was an accelerant in the garage… just saying'

The flaw in your position is that I have no reason to make a story up for your guys.....you guys get it . I would just say straight up "yeah, I'm hookin' myself up." Hell, I'd probably ask for story ideas that sound better than me dumping off the roof!!

Side note - Zipp HB arrived today. Sooooo sweet.

Ordering the Ultegra stuff from Wheel & Sprocket. Then I need the internal mount kit from Specialized, but their systems are down until Tuesday. So I am probably at least 10 days out before I get this together.

Just ordered up the Ultegra Di2 stuff. Also needed the internal battery mount for the Venge, but Specialized was shut down since last Friday to update their systems, so had to wait until today.

Hopefully will get it all put together by next week, latest. Hopefully.

In the meantime, the group ride tonight will be old school.....steel Serotta w/ DT friction shifters!!
