Shimano 53/34 ?

Has anyone tried pairing a Shimano 53 with a 34 with a mechanical 9000 set up? Did you have any shifting issues ?

that would be a pretty huge tooth differential....haven't tried it, but seems like it amy stretch the performance limits of a FD.]

You may wanna ask over on Slowtwitch.....I'd be willing to bet someone there has tried it. Just make sure they clarify if they are doing it with a bar end shifter ior STI.

yeah my ultegra 6800 has about a cm between the chain and the cage bottom when it's in the 34x16 and I am only using a 50t big ring. A 53T ring should have a radius that is about 6mm bigger than a 50T.

By the way, you will only benefit from the 53 v. the 50 when you are in the little cog. How often are you pushing that little cog anyway?
