Astec Cables

Building a Mooched Ti frame and found that I have a set Astec brake/shifter cables with the housings made up of tiny spools. Are these worth using? Old and retired so gotta watch the spending. The rest of the bike is coming from parts boxes and mooched parts. thanks Jer

Do you mean Aztec? If so, I have used them with no problems.

Not certain you really need them....such cables (Aztec, Nokon, etc)are great when dealing with tight bends, etc. but don't really offer any significant advantages on a "regular" cabled bike, IMO.
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

I have been using Nokon cables for near 10 years and one of the biggest benefits besides the non compression feature is the liner runs shifter to derrallieur. this keeps a lot of crud out of the system so less maintenance. I change liner and cables every 2 years or so. I find them superior. The same beads for more than 10 years. Normal housing would need replacing every 2 to 4 years. This makes these systems reasonably good investment over a long time.
