My orange treaded Vittoria Competizeone sew-ups, circa 1976 would look perfect on that bike! (Fun tires. Fast, But scary in the rain!)
Was reading in BF last night about the state of touring bikes. Saw a comment that probably the new frame materials were not what you wanted if you were going to tour the third world; that the locals would now how to repair a steel frame but be stumped by CF, ti, etc. Present them with this bike and sit back and watch some serious head scratching.

Red? The T-shirt on the guy behind, now that's red. But that frame? Or do I need to recalibrate the colors on my screen (or retina)?

Big ring for photos...When my bikes are in rest derailleur position is always so as to have least tension on cables and springs (true rest). That means they mostly get photographed in small ring. Its been an automatism from way back when. |

OC, that mattered when the derailleur body was plastic (Simplex) but a continuous load on a steel spring doesn't do anything to it. Same for the wire. And a steel cable housing. Perhaps plastic bushings in the derailleur pivots suffer. I never think about it. Bikes get put away in whatever gear, usually the 42-17 or 19. (A good gear for my knees when I get back on. Now that's a pivot that matters!)

| Ben - I don't buy that. Tension is tension. It may matter less when material is stronger but it still matters. |

| that is a good looking bike but a bit over the top for me. i would look like a coke dealer riding something like that. same reason my gf won't let me get a corvette. |

Next step: put water bladders in those huge tubes and get rid of the water bottle cages. When a rider needs fluids, he will pull up next to the team car and fill up with a hose.
Otherwise well done for something that looks like a concept bike from the cover of Bicycling from 1982. |

The the leader would have to go back to the car himself, and might be harder to dump water before a climb. I hate to even think about cleaning them.  |

Make that Shiv's cable loop a little larger and the rim a little deeper and following riders will be able to grab that cable with a boathook safely. Could come in handy on long climbs.

| I really like the look of the Trek. I've never been a huge fan of theirs but this one I'm definitely go to swing a leg over in a test ride. Honey if you are reading this I said test ride not buy. |
