What handlebar mounted, blinking, bright as the sun, light are you using? Want to make myself more visible.

I literally just bought these today on Amazon.....combined total of about $100. Seemed entirely reasonable and worth a gamble buying sight-unseen. One is 860 lumens and the other is 960 lumens.

700 lumin Night Rider on medium setting (if it's on high beam it only lasts for 90-minutes) plus a 400 lumin Joystick helmet light on high. Plenty of light for up to a 2 1/2 hour ride.

Whatever you get, just realize there is a special place in hell for you if you insist on strobing that thing on the bike path.

700 lumen Night Rider as well. With current dawn/dusk lighting in strobo setting, very effective at chasing cars off the shoulder. When it gets darker I use solid beam (strobo get nutty on the eyes) in medium setting, reverting back to strobo at the tricky intersections for added visibility.

LOL - Chinook - I just read your post +1 on that. It's OK now but when its dark...wicked

I bought these two lights a year ago. The combo works well for me since I use them on both my road and mountain bikes. I can run the 200 lumen light on my helmet and the 800 on my bars when I'm on the mountain bike or if I need higher visibility on the road. Most of the time I find that the 200 lumen light is plenty for my needs on the road bike (and it doesn't blind others on the trail) so I just put it on my bars and leave the 800 lumen light at home.

And this is the tail light that I use - it's plenty bright.

My MTB lights are, a Light Motion Seca 2000 on the bar, and a Niterider 750 Lumina on the helmet.
These are a bit much, but I commute to the trails on the Lumina low setting, and med for most of the ride, then on high during the descent
The Niterider is great around town, but I have other options from Serfas for that, a TSL 300 and a TSL 550.
Best tail light is the LED Thunderbolt strip style from Serfas, bright as heck, lasts for hours on high, and flashing mode, USB rechargeable, been using a couple for going on three years.
I revived the charger for my Niterider Dual 400, this one is great for short rides, and what I love is that it is two separate lights, so you can dial in the light beam to your tastes

as far as lights go, I'm a firm believer that more is better, and you can never have "Too Much" light

+1 on the Thunderbolt....I use it on almost all my rides now 9and yes, that measn daytime rides).

Actually, I am also riding with a flashing front light almost all the time now as well. Figure anything I can do to get myself noticed by the texting and driving mom / teen / business guy as soon as possible is a good thing.

Daytime pulsating headlamps are now available for motorcycles. They really get your attention.

I use a Niterider 350. It is helmet mounted, and I look down and to the side when passing an opposing bike on the trail. I like the ability to point it at cars. I only use flash on the road in sketchy conditions.
The 700, which I started with, was too bright for the trail, even on it's lowest setting. It was ridiculous in fog.

I use a Serfas USL-TL60 taillight.

Plus 1 on the pulsing lights, I'm out before dawn, at about 5:30, and when I'm wrapping up my rides, I almost always find the sun at my back, the NiteRider Lumina 750 has a great flashing mode, really gets people's attention, and it's on the helmet, so you can look right at someone, then they get it...

CK, I received my front light from Amazon on Saturday. Went for a spin around the hood Saturday night. Plenty of light. Stobe feature brought me back to my 70's rock & roll days, when we used to use a strobe on stage. Great light for the $$$

Which one did you get, Spud? My 960 lumens light arrived Sat....haven't taken it out yet, but basement tests so far have been impressive.

That is an awesome price, close to 1000 lumens for 54.00? Too cool.......

What are the run times like?

Dunno yet....haven't received my MasterFlash 860 yet and have't taken the Blitzu 960 out for a ride since I got it. Usually do a trail ride on Tuesday night with the boys, so hopefully I'll have a better idea after tomorrow, but the weather is lookin' kinda dicey.

Suppose I could just set it up in the basement and see how long it lasts on the brightest mode, just for schitts & giggles....

If I only knew the max charge time on the MF860 battery. Really hate to have it burst into flames trying to get the max time. Really want to use it for daytime strobe. I'll have to give it a test for run time on strobe mode.

My MasterFlash has yet to be delivered.....was supposed to be here Sat. Grrrr.....Amazon said tomorrow. FFS, it is just being delivered from Kenosha...only 35 minutes away. What's weird is that they packed my other light with another, unrelated order and had those items delivered by an Amazon truck....but yet this other light is coming USPS.

And people wonder why Amazon isn't profitable.

I ordered six bags of coffee from Starbucks. Five came in one box with inflatable packing material greater in volume than one bag. The sixth bag came in another box.

Oh yeah....the amount of packaging and packaging material you get from Amazon is staggering.

But theya re focused on revenue-generation, not profitability. We have had some of their buyers flat-out tell us that they will take our stuff if we can get it to them at a price where they will only lose $5 / unit instead of $7 / unit.

Seriously, WTF? how can you run a business like that? Mind you, from a consumer's POV, I don't care....I abuse the crap out of my Prime membership and I love cheap stuff as much as the next guy, but at some point, there has to be a reckoning.

Back in my days as an engineer, I saw the change from partnerships to corporate owned firms. I remember being condescended to when I asked if it wouldn't be MORE profitable to keep good people around in the lean times, even if it meant going after lower profit, less interesting work, rather than firing and hiring for the almighty quarter.

As much as it's common sense that being penny wise can easily be pound foolish, it took a huge economic collapse in 2008 for this to be somewhat more obvious.

CK, your light is probably attached to a drone that is still looking for your house :-)

This is why I don't buy $4it online...and did I not give you guys fair warning about testing bike lights in the basement?

I must have missed that warning...what was it?

Light arrived today. A little fitting with the mount, a few zip ties and I got it securely on my helmet. So I'll have 960 lumens on my HB and 860 lumens on my lid.

Probably overkill, but for $100? Would have set me back ~$500 at least if I bought Light & Motion or Nite Rider.

This whole light thread has given me a flash back to two things. One, is the Wonder Light I used to have for a touring bike, white with that weird battery. Two, the "blinkers" I had on my banana seat bike. Now that sh!t was cool.

New lights = thumbs up!!!

Rarely needed or used both together as one by itself was usually sufficient, but when I wanted to use both, it was GREAT!

1720 lumens for $100? Well worth it.
