Tilford said these were junk. I've had good luck with Vittorias but he panned them in his blog

Okay, I should go out and see how my tire gluing did last night. I bought a bunch of Vittoria cross tires and they are hugely defective. They blow out at the valve stem by just pumping them up. I found this out after gluing two on. So far, 3 out of 4 have catastrophically failed at the valve stem. I can’t believe they would even put these things on the market. I bought them from Steep and Cheap, which is Backcountry out of Utah. Too good to be true. So, don’t buy these. We’ll see how the return goes.

Never had a problem with road tubs from Vittoria....I'd be very surprised if these have any issues.

I was debating switching over to clinchers this year...especially with the price of those HED's. But then I would have to swap my PT hub around or buy a different power meter. Too much hassle...saw these and that clinched me staying on this for the time being.

PowerTap is having a 20% off sale, so I may buy an extra training wheel for ~$700.

I went from Vittoria CX to Clements this year, SOOOO much easier to glue up. I ditched tubulars for road use a few years ago but cross... gotta have tubulars.

I bought the Corsa CX clinchers for Cycle Oregon and have been very pleased with them. I won't argue sew-up vs clincher. If someone else was paying and gluing. I'd probably never ride another clincher but I will keep riding them until that tooth fairy comes. (I hear I will start reverting to a child-like state in not too many years. Will my wish be granted when those teeth start falling out?

I rode Cycle Oregon this year in eastern Oregon. Paid zero attention to goatheads until I got two flats on morning three. Paid attention, wiped my tires and didn't get another one. I've had flats since I came back, but not a lot, just in line with what I would expect from a good race tire. And they feel like a race tire. Fun to ride! Fun on corners also.

I rather like the image of being old toothless man and riding sew-ups.
