Timely, my new frame is in and the first part to be installed will be the CK headset. The bike gets the label of Moots, but it's really a Moots/CK/Shimano/Ritchey mashup.

My old headset was ridden for about 5yrs, mostly in the rain and I'd reuse it if the headtube were the same diameter. No maintenance and it was still buttery smooth. I will see if it fetches anything on ebay.

I've had mixed luck with Chris King headsets. The threadless on my first TiCycles is fine but the threaded one TiCycles installed on my fix gear was a real pain. Never stayed in adjustment. I couldn't get it to stay, pro mechanics couldn't get it to stay and my luck taking it to the factory was no better. This was the rather weird collet style HS that never made sense to me. Finally replaced it with a Tange. King's stack doesn't match any of the Tanges so the replacement is a mishmash of Tange HSs but to Tange's credit, they mix and match beautifully. The Tange has been a joy to own and ride.
