I KNEW better than to go to a demo day!

Rock Mountain had their demo fleet and I rode three of them. I liked the Thunderbolt the best-- 130mm front and rear travel, pretty nice component spec.

I know the big thing is loads of suspension and shallow head tubes for bombing downhill but I like climbing and the quicker zipping in and out of tighter sections. Dare I say XC type of riding?

The jury is still out but I'm digging through the sofa cushions to see how much spare change I can locate.

My wife just laughed

Things have changed! I used to do XC. $15 pair of racing flats, T-shirt, shorts and a jockstrap!

Funny, that was the last time I really enjoyed running. The (then) new shoes killed it for me; the deep padded heels that completely defeated how I was taught to run - ball of foot hit first, heel just touched. Now i have the new "zero" flats. I love them but it will take me many months of slow build up to be able to run again that style injury free. 48 years of de-conditioning is a long time.
