Looks like there are a couple of devices that detect a wreck and will send a text alert. https://www.specialized.com/us/en/angi-crash-sensor/p/170203?color=&searchText=60519-8000 and https://tilt-rescue.com What else is out there? Anyone here ride with one? What's your opinion on these?

My helmet has this. I didn’t activate it. Reckoned it would go off each time my helmet crashes off the bar counter at local brew pub and then my wife knows where I am. Supposedly you have a few minutes to deactivate the rescue call.
A team mate did set it up. He said it took a while to get his helmet to talk to his phone but then it worked. But I see limited circumstances where it would add value, remote solo rides were there is still data coverage. Those aspects are a bit mutually exclusive here.

There are similar devices that use satellite rather than cell. Better coverage in remote areas but can be blocked by terrain and heavy foliage. Thus ditto OC’s observation. Still for sure this could help some people.

So a few months on I asked my friend if his helmet had prank called his wife yet.
He replied that the app is bad enough that typically he doesn’t use it.
