The fault was with the pumper, not the pump. I've occasionally bent the valve stem as the pump head sagged. Finally (after I broke one off completely and had to change the tube) I realized that if I wrap the hose around a spoke, it takes the stress off the pump head/valve connection. So far, much better.

I've been using the Specialized floor pump for a couple of years/ I really like the long hose they provide with a clip at the top of the pump/ I keep the hose clipped midway and always rotate the wheel to the valve at 3:00/9:00 or higher. For the Zephal frame pumps. I wrap my hand and fingers around the adjacent spoke and rim so I am pumping against my hand and the whole wheel/bike, not the valve.
One feature I like about both of those pumps is how cleanly they go on and off valves. (Now if they could only invent a pump that could not be inserted over a closed valve!)

Lezyne pumps, at least the one I have, has the hose mounted to the end of the pump head, not the side like you see on a lot of other pumps. Kind of like Silca pumps. This means there's no torque on your valve stem. Might be a consideration when buying your next pump.

I have a problem with the Silca type air chucks. Either they bent the valve stems or they would pop off when I was inflating the tire. I switched mine out for a Blackburn Anyvalve. I also have to flip my bike over so it's upside down and steady the wheel with my knee when I'm using a floor pump. Have not used a Leyzne floor pump. Of course I might be having a problem with my technique but it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks. I just do what works for me.

I've had (worn) Silca air chucks come off as well. The Lezyne one I have screws on and is quite good. I wanted to NOT like it when I bought the pump (went as far as to tape the receipt to the pump thinking I was going to need it when the pump failed under warranty) but it's worked flawlessly for three or so years now. I've just spent 5 minutes on their web page and it would seem Lezyne has changed their pump head to a slip on version now so they may also have Silca-esque issues with popping off. Don't know.

I have a Leyzne Road Drive L frame pump. Stopped using it as it unscrewed my replaceable valve cores when I went to unscrew the hose, which meant I was basically screwed as it let all the air out of my tube. Might be the reason why they changed the air chuck. Too bad they don't offer an after market option...I sent a message to Leyzne once and they replied....

I've never liked slip-on chucks where threaded stems wear the rubber and screw-on ones I find tedious. The Zephal lever operated chucks on their frame pumps always seemed t me like a genius idea. I never got why everyone didn't immediately copy it when the patent expired (I am sure they had one). The Specialized pump has a similar lever and it seems they got it right.
