Just wondering what the compatibility would be of the Cinelli Spinacis with a new set of modern-day handlebars.
I know I won't be able to use them with carbon bars, but my issue is the specs. I used them with 3TTT Prima 220 bars but the specs that were once industry standard have changed.
From what I've seen there are no more stems that take a 26.0 handlebar-could I get away with using some sort of shim?
Then there is the fork. Since all are either 1 1/8th or over, there seems to be no way I cold use an old school stem.
If anyone could help I'd appreciate it. I know we have some retro grouches left over from the old Velonews site-this would be right up your alley!!!

Shims would work, and Cinelli still makes the classic Quill in a 26.0. but it is for a 1" threaded steerer.
Here is the Velo Orange site, they have a couple of options for threadless with a 26.0 clamp

There is also an adapter for a threadless stem to bolt onto an adapter that has a quill bottom made by Delta industries and one by Deda, Nitto, etc... check out the BTI USA site for these

Using a modern stem with a shim down to 26.0 is no big deal. Dave Levy of TiCycles does all his threadless stems in 31.8 and provides shims to bring them down to 26.0 or whatever. Wouldn't surprise me if better shops could sell you those shims. They require only elementary machining. Any machine shop (for car stuff, etc) could make them easily. (Have the machine shop do it and you can get the shim to match the actual dimensions of your stem and bars instead of the nominal dimensions.)
The old school stem won't help you here as you know, but anyone buying a new quill stem should seriously consider the Nitto Pearl instead of a Cinelli. Better made and flat out beautiful. (Note that you have to multiply Nitto's stem lengths by 1.05 to get the "normal" stem length. Nitto measures their stems differently than most. So a 120 Nitto would be a "normal" 125. Also note that Cinellis and TTTs may run ~0.4 small. The two I measured did anyway. So a 130 Nitto is a full cm longer than a 130 TTT or Cinelli. I now run a Pearl 12 to replace a 130 Cinelli. Benefit - if you've been riding a 130, you get to replace it with a Nitto and ride like God and Eddy on a 12 now!) Cinelli bars may be 26.4 in which case the Nitto Pearl would not be an option.

There are still lots of options for 26.0 stems. Worst case scenario is to hit eBay and find one. Guarranteed you can find some NOS stems that will work for you.

I have two options, thanks to you guys-
1) A new stem that will fit my 1 1/8th fork AND the 26.0 handlebars or...
2) Purchase a shim to retrofit the 3TTT handlebars and keep my current stem (an FSA OS 115).
This will also allow me to fit my Shimano computer and HRM, whereas right now the handlebars I'm currently running (Oval Concepts R910 flat top handlebars) don't allow me to put anything on them, and I'm quite tired of looking for options that just do not exist.
