Does anyone have any information about getting a Lemond frame warrantied?

My understanding was that Trek was honouring the warranties which may or may not be correct.  If it is correct does anyone know what frame Trek replaces a Zurich with?

You will have to take it in to dealer that isn't on the skids with Trek. There is probably going to probably be a little back and forth and a sliding scale of out of pocket costs as it relates to the frame you get in return. Since Lemond got the boot the warranty will get a little fuzzier with each passing year. Some have had success from what I've heard

Hopefully, you are not on a tight timeline

@jrt1045 - Thanks for the info and the head's up on the 'fuzziness' of the warranties.

Looks like I'll be doing more mtn biking in the near future.

Ran into an employee of a local Trek shop on the way home from my ride this AM. I had just read your post before the ride so it was fresh in my mind. I asked him and he squinted his face up and said "It depends on the customer. New frame for cost plus 10% (good, regular customer) up to 10% off of retail. But every shop has their own plan for Lenons." Yes he said Lemons.

Lemons? Really? Is the Zurich in question the silver/blue Reynold 853 frame from the late 1990's? Since there really isn't a comparable model in Trek's catalog any longer, I would think that the Madone 2-series would be the closest possible replacement frame. It's aluminum.

I don't recall but did the bike comes with a Lifetime Warranty? Are you the original owner? If so, I think you'll do just fine.

@6ix it is the silver/blue Reynolds 853. I have to say I have loved the ride.

@jmdirt points to the employee for the Lemond/Lemon 'pun'. I guess it makes sense Lemond may not be a favourite around the Trek stores.

I can assure you that the negative energy between Trek and LeMond goes both ways. And considering what Trek did in the past by standing by their cash-cow LA, I have to side with LeMond. Don't get me wrong, I like Trek's products. They have an awesome design team, I know that much. Their attention to detail is amazing. I hope none of the fallout from LA affects any of them. Trek is a massive company (something like $900 Million) so they will do just fine, but they should own up to their mistakes and poor decisions.
