I forgot how slow shore riding is

Last night. One and a half hours, 7.4km. Dropped a kilo in sweat. About an hour of steep climbing including a hike a bike and half hour down.

Andy, your title suggests riding the beach roads of the east coast clogged with summer traffic. Yes, slow. Exasperated motorists, lots of exhaust fumes, pedestrians paying little attention to anyone outside their group. But those hours of steep climbing are really hard to find! Oh, and the music is blasting from the cars. You don't get a choice.

Not around here Ben. Sea to Sky country. Andy - I have evil plans to take my 10yr olds up to Lions in couple weeks when the mrs is gone (she's adamently against it) - am I crazy?

dkri: I haven't ridden Ladies in a couple years. Too many things to fall on for me. I've met Arthur a bunch of times. Really nice guy. He's originally from France but not much accent so I guess he's been here a while. Suffered a serious concussion over a year ago and just getting back to work now. Exceptional rider. The trails I rode were: Dempsey Braemar-St Mary's-Deam Weaver-Baden Powell-got lost a bit searching for Peugeot and then I descended and un-named hidden trail that only a few people know of to another hidden Gem then back the way I came up. Trails are super dry at the moment. Brown pow as we call it. Thankfully it is raining a bit now which will ease off the dust and hopefully trails won't be closed due to fire risk. Up to Whistler tonight. Taking off the week of 19-23 so I may see some of Crankworks.

You want to hike up the Lions? My best friend hiked them last weekend. he figured that since he has been hiking the grind a couple three times a week and road riding up Cypress too that he was good to go. He forgot the plyometric workout of going down. He was walking funny for several days. He did this last year too hiking into then out of Singing Pass. I would suggest coming to Whistler, taking the lift to the Peak and hiking to Singing Pass over the musical bumps. The alpine is full of flowers right now and I hear it is spectacular. A friend of mine did it Wednesday and her pictures are nice.

The down will be a problem for me, not the kids, they just rip. Talking them up will take some effort I reckon.

We've done that Whistler hike already some yrs ago. But we may actually come up, but in that case I have Westwood lake in mind. I've heard a lot of people say, one of the best hikes in the area.

Cool vid. I've never rode any technical trails like that......I think I've really missed something really cool. Been riding since the 70's (not counting childhood) yet mountain biking never really entered into the picture for me.

Fate was good to me Bob. I became an unemployed geologist and ended up working at a shop with some of the Illuminati of mountain bikes. I worked for people that ended up starting Rockymountain bikes, Syncros and Kona. I have maintained some connection to various shops and people ever since so I know someone at nearly every important bike shop in town.
