Anyone got recommendations for a default tire-pressure on a dry course? Clincher and Tubular.

If you read Pete Custer's "Redounkulous Cyclocronkulous" you'll know that 70 psi is too much.
I've been riding bout 45-55 PSI in dry conditions with my 175lbs frame. I don't claim to be good at cross, but I don't wash out in turns. I've been told that tubbies are the way to go, but I still use clinchers and they work just fine. my buck fitty.

Always check your chain before the race, or that first turn can be "interesting"....

I've been running ~50psi on 34c clinchers. I played with lower pressures but found the sidewall of the tire would collapse too easily for my liking down around 40psi. I imagine this effect is not as noticeable on a tubular. In the couple or races I've done thus far nobody had corner speed or traction over me that I could tell.
