Ok so we now have an openly gay NBA player . A soon to be openly gay player in the NFL. Has there been an openly gay pro cyclist ? Over/under on how long it will be before we see one. Male or female first ? |

Interesting question.
The who's who list shows 4 cyclists, 3 of which were german female cyclists, two of which were in a relationship with one another. The fourth is Graeme Obree, which came as surprise to me.

It'll be nice to get to the point of... "Who cares..."

if anyone is surprised there are gay people happily going about their lives in the open, doing all (well most) of the things you or I do, then you really haven't been paying attention or have just been mentally blocking out that part of our species.
I really think it's just a few scattered enclaves left where people are surprised to find gay people in their midst. |

You know what I'm waiting for? An openly vegetarian or vegan MLB or NFL player. I bet there are actually some, but I can't get over how bad 400 pound football players, all the megafarm meat they eat, and then all the $4ite the fans consume at games, on the way to games, and while watching games at home are for the environment.
I am really growing to despise U.S. ball sports. The NFL is a corporate chess match, not a sport. The NBA is WWE with a ball. I think both are major parts of the problem in the U.S. right now...just look at the fan base. |
