Well Froome has had his ass handed to him twice inside of 2k to go so far during the race.

Props to Tejay van Garderen for the nice win against some serious heavy hitters.

Good to see Froome is back on planet Earth. His riding last year was a bit ridiculous. Other riders now know he is assailable. Sets up a very exciting season. Good to see Tejay win.

did Froome do anything early last year? CI is all I remember. It's surprising to so many of the Tour favorites in the same early-season race. I remember Jan and -7 and Pantani being careful about not mixing it up too much against each other until later in the year.

Good for Tejay. Nice to get a win in the bag and relieve some of the pressure from him and BMC too. The Tejay vs. Talansky trajectories is also fascinating to watch since they are alike in a lot of ways but also quite different. Talansky comes across as being scrappy and less polished and running on more grit whereas Tejay seems a bit more groomed with a more steady engine. Both are good at the same kinds of races. I was disappointed when Tejay went to BMC, mostly cuz of that team's heritage under Och and Riis but Vaughter's way is more suited to Talansky anyway.

Froome 2013 won Oman, second at T-A, won Crit Int, won Tour of Romandie, then won Dauphine. So yeah he was pretty dominant on 2013.

Froome is coming off a physical (back?). So to see him only 16 seconds back after that suggests he is on track.

I would love to see AC beat him in July, but I also want both of them to be at their best. Ac seems to be on track as well but as I said in an early thread, I hope and suspect he will not go too far overboard now, knowing full well he did on that incredible finish the other day; that he needs to save his guns for July. Making one move on final climbs, then finishing a couple of seconds off the win sounds right.

Great win, his best? Pretty healthy field to cross the line #1, awesome.
