I am going safe with this order...

1 - Quintana
2 - Rodriquez
3 - Martin
4 - Evans
5 - Roche or Uran, can't decide

huck, I like your picks but I'll make same small changes:

1 - Quintana
2 - Rodriquez
3 - Uran
4 - Evans (except one of the three above is going to have a bad day and Evans gets on the podium)
5 - Martin

Quintana's to lose; beyond that the rest of podium is a wash.

I'll pick Kelderman for a podium spot; he's keen to show what he's made off and this will be his first time as leader in a Grand Tour.

Then Evan's for the remaining spot, just cause I like his grinta.

I can't decide if it's a good thing or a bad thing that there isn't an Italian GC rider even mentioned for the Giro win. It's almost becoming like the tour. No home town guys to route for. Is that good for the sport ? I sort of wish there was at least one Italian guy.

Ride On - thinking the same thing as I looked on my list.

Strangely enough, I have two Irishmen ; )

I think it will be a Quintana / Purito battle with everyone else fighting for scraps. I don't think Cuddles has the legs for the high passes anymore, and certainly not against the likes of the other 2. But his consistency and TT skills may keep him close enough that should an opportunity arise, he can grab it.

I'd lean towards Quintana, but the reality is that we just don't know much about him....yet. Was July simply catching "lightning in a a bottle"? Answer to be revealed soon, I guess.

The field is actually a bit weak on GC talent this year.

Agreed, pretty weak field although initially there was great promise with Porte and others. The Italians were already complaining about poor performance in Spring Classics, I don't think the Giro will bring relief.

I prefer to think of it as a race with no five star favorite as opposed to a weak field.

The only rider on that list who is a defensive rider is Cuddles. All the other guys are attackers. Should be fun to watch.

Well, the one thing about pure climbers and the GC is that a "jour sans" is never off the table. From that perspective, no lead may be safe.

It should definitely be fun to watch because there is no overwhelming favorite.

The Giro is always good for attackers because regardless of favorites the teams are never very deep. That makes for old skool racing.

Agree with OC, this one is wide open and wil be more fun to watch than the Tour. It always is

The only pick I will commit to is that Cuddles will be far very far away from the podium, top 20 if he has a tailwind all the way. Quintana will do well but he is missing the racecraft. Purito's race to win, but he never has the finish. Be fun to watch
