Vincenzo's kit is causing a buzz so I'll toss in my $.01: I don't like the national champ kits that aren't like the rest of the team. I like Sagan's kit because it looks like the CDale kit with a nod to his title so I obviously like Nibali's kit. After all, they aren't riding for their national team, they are riding for a Sponsor. I don't have to read the kit to know that its Astana. Instant recognition is big in advertising.

I am of the other mind. The champ kit is a matter of national pride, which these guys take real serious-like, and the team name would feature big on it anyway. I like that the kid is different. Love the Japan kit -- all white with a red rising sun -- makes the whole rider look like the flag.

Poll!
Subdued vs. unsubdued national champ's special jerseys in team races like grand tours?
I vote subdued.

As stated above, subdued nat kit. For any special jersey in a stage race, just wear the jersey.

Disclaimer: I know that its big recognition for each sponsor to have a rider in, for example, yellow so each sponsor wants to make their product yellow. What we get is a hideous yellow monster, but I can deal with it knowing that its good for the sponsors, and probably good for the sport. There's a guy here in Boise who bought one of LA's 100 signed yellow Trek bikes for $15K (in 2000 or 2001 dollars).
