Why does the driver, the DS, hand up bottles and not a guy in the back seat. I assume the bottles are in the back seat so he has to hand them to the driver who then hands them to the rider. The driver is always taking his eyes off the road to do all this. All seems very unsafe. It can't be that he want to talk to the dude that bad. He has a radio. He is just a domestic anyway. What could he really need to tell him?

The driver controls the car and can adjust speed to the rider or give a little STICKY BOTTLE help.

yes, sticky bottle: the driver holds the bottle from behind, the rider braces against the bottle, and driver guns the accelerator to sling the rider forward. saves a boatload of energy and takes much skill, experience and brass balls.

I drove the doctors car in the tour of Alberta last year. I gave Cadel a car assist after he stopped in for sunscreen No metal bits dangling from me. I am sure the driver hands out the bottles because he is also controlling the car. he cannot feel the rider if the mechanic was handing up stuff.
