Improved modulation and improved wet-weather braking (how well the pads work) are the two takeaways that I like. A third "plus" would be no wearing out the brake track on the rims; although I've never wore any rims out to-date.
I've heard people in my local circles talk about being able to stop faster or over a shorter distance. Don't buy that, especially on dry pavement, since I can lock up my rear wheel in a heartbeat now if I want to. To me that's more a function of the tire's contact patch with the pavement.
Overall, I like the idea of road discs. Do NOT like the fact that ALL my stuff is caliper and may require some hefty spending down the road (i.e. frame & wheels) if I wanted to make the jump.

As much as I like to bitch about today's planned obsolescence, really it's always been around. Try finding a French threaded bottom bracket.

What I find funny, are things that are said to be terrible at one time, being marketed at another. The most obvious to me, was when in the early '90's aero was everything. Quill stems had their single tightening bolted tucked underneath instead of forward to reduce drag. Now, stems have giant face plates with four forward facing bolts.
