The t of ca has started in my town a few times these past few yrs. So, the starting line up is announcd with all the callouts and who rolls up late smiling ear to ear to hop in line but Jens. I saw him do that before, so I have to wonder if this is a habit for this guy. Huge smile, cruises in, off they go a minute later. Interestingly, a cannon dale rider who appeared to be Italian missed the line up but hopped in via a break in the barriers as they rolled off. Excuse? Well, he was chatting up a very pretty girl in full cannondale team polo shirt, etc who appeared to be part of the team. Maybe being late has its benefits! J

More tales from the peanut gallery, thanks for sharing. Looking forward to seeing them in my neighborhood. It's going to be gridlock in the city by the Bay next sunday. ToC and Bay to Breakers start within one hour of one another, Yeah!!! I'll be on my bike trying to catch a bit of both actions.

He's smiling ear to ear because he has somehow escaped the tag and shame that he deserves...dark side thread.

We are all products of our environment, with that in mind he has handled his well without demeaning, demonizing and or taking advantage of his celebrity to chastise others. Nothing for him to be shamed of unless of course one lives in a black and white world.

He lives in a black world so I'll take it to the dark side.

I put him in the same group as Indurain. He made no enemies and he is loved by the fans. So he gets a pass.

OK, for all the cynicism, as a cyclist, when I see Voight rolling up late with his cappucino in hand in the podunk CA town I live in, it's cool to me.

For what it is worth, I agree with Bob and Keith.

Bob, enjoy it when they go up north. Great opportunity to see all the gear in the caravans / team cars that are parked near the start(s). Man, the Garmin S5s with black Mavic carbon tubulars look much better live than in the photos I have seen. Some serious hardware around - one team was riding a Neil Pryde aero road model that also looked pretty cool.
