Wish there was a video of it. Still being treated like second class citizens, why wasn't it televised?

Watching a TT on TV is like watching paint dry.

That may be so but having a video like they show for men would have been nice, at least the ending where Evelyn Stevens was passed by Alison Powers heading to the final climb when Stevens saving some energy excelled and took back control passing Powers to win the TT event. I dare say that would have been more exiting than watching paint dry in fact more exciting than most of the mens events.

It was weird. They were showing the TT then sudden stopped when all the motos left to do the men's race. Poor planning on the part of the event. They only had 15 riders. Surely they could have done better with that.

This from Amber's FB page. I had several updates from our team and core sponsor / owner as many of us live near Amber and have been riding with her since she was a teenager. Glad to see her spirit is holding up. Expect she will be putting a lot more time into her childrens support program.

Made it home today. Double bonus was a shower, although it was quite an effort. All things considered, I am doing very well. I'm guarded by God's peace, and I'm motivated to get well as quickly but smartly as possible. The official damage is a broken hip, 2 ribs, and I actually think I broke my nose. Huge contusion on my side, shoulder, and some misc other things. Really, though, I am in very good shape. I'm sore. I mean... I feel like I rode into a rock wall.

Huge thanks to Lana Atchley for taking care of me before the race. My legs were awesome, and I was going well. Unfortunately, we will never know what may have been. (BTW She is in the San Jose area if you need a good soft tissue specialist/massage therapist.) THEN, she did the super cool friend thing and stayed with me for 8 hours in the trauma center. Also thanks to BMC's and my Dr. Eric Heiden who checked up on me at the hotel. (He even raided the BMC truck for some snacks for me! Always above and beyond the call of duty.) Now, my awesome husband has his hands full for a little while.

I am focusing on what I CAN do. 10 deep breaths every hour for my lungs/ribs. And baby steps with the crutches. Sleep tonight. First goal is simply to rest, recover and get to the point where I can do the next step in the active recovery process.

Thanks for all the messages and tweets! They mean a ton!

Amber, I feel for you. 13 years ago, I ran into a cement and steel wall, broke 3 ribs, collapsed a lung and did massive shoulder damage. A weekend in trauma.

Keep your spirits up. This will pass. In its own sweet time which will fell like forever, but it will pass. Congratulations on the shower! (They will get easier.)

Ben

If someone knows how to pass this on to her, please do!
