Big, Van dear Poel is just not the same ride this year as 2019. Riding at the back of the bunch in the climbs.

Loved being able to watch the Dauphine then swapping over to Lombardia....small (very small) benefit of the lockdown, I guess.

The climbs are also too big for van der Poel. Even in top form he’d just be hanging in there. I mean even in Amstel which he won he was not best on harder climbs. And those were much easier climbs.

Oh Jesus…he hit a wall on a bridge during descent and flipped over it. Looked like a LONG drop.

Holy schitt…hoping he is OK.

Evenepoel loaded into a ambulance on a stretcher and immobilized.

Hoping it is all precautionary.

Horrific crash. That turn is SO dangerous.

It looked like Nibalis wicked descent put him under pressure. Just before turn he was a bit distanced and probably took some risks trying to latch back on.

Trek 4, 5 and 6. Haha.

Oh and that Schachmann incident w car. Cripes.

I wonder if Evanepoel/s 20 years old was a factor here. Nibali is one of the best there is descending. Common knowledge that when he is on, you're going to lose a few seconds at your best. Good thing is that Evenepoel is 20 years old. Young enough to heal fast. I wish him well. I'd love to see him back and strong in a few weeks though might take a miracle. I didn't watched the crash and don't plan to.

Well they joked when he was a junior that he was going on solo rampages because he didn’t know how to ride in a group.

At this point this looks to be a race control error with driver being as much a victim as Schachman

Back to CKs original post, MVDP said he surprised himself with performance today but doesn’t think he’d ever be a favourite in this race. Finally starting to feel good. I am sure he will be too by time of Flanders and Roubaix.

Well, now Roglic is out of the Dauphine after his crash yesterday. What a mess this is turning out to be!

The *good* news is that it leaves today's stage wide open, I guess.....
