The bike throw.  Yet another big race won/lost by a first class throw vs a halfhearted one.

An old story, re-played periodically.  My first exposure was the '84 Women's Olympics and Connie Carpenter's velodrome worthy throw.  Have felt since that anyone who even might see the podium steps should spend a year or more at the velodrome.  (In that light, that it would benefit road racing to have far move of those arenas.  Sadly, Portland just lost theirs.  Brings me close to tears every time I go by.  And with a local track, those velodrome years can happen as a teenager.)

Wow you lost your velodrome with all the cycling momentum there is in Portland? That’s sad. Ours seems to be going strong. Track racing is awesome.

That said not sure todays winner has been on velodrome. Or Pidcock or Wout or VDP, all their throws seem fine. Youth racing can do the trick. What we really need is members of UCI jury having proper training. Maybe they should spent more time officiating track racing.

Track racing is alive and well just outside Kansas City where Ashton Lambie honed his track skills

333 meter flat grass velodrome

I might have to take that old steel frameset hanging in my garage and get it set up for racing.

More spoiler...

I guess we can start wondering who is Magnus Sheffield. Second win of season. This is a big one for a 19 year old.

Ineos again playing numbers game perfectly, just like they did at Amstel.

Evenepoel riding like a jojo (as Sporza put it). Piling on pressure, then getting distanced when it matters due to poor placement, returning to front. But at least he is great at descending now.

Certainly not QSs year; today their team car causes a crash of which JA is one of main victims. When it rains...
