| Trek is freaking out that their new bike got leaked to the unwashed… like anyone can tell one plastic bike from another. Strip the decals off and they all look alike. |

Saying that all carbon bikes look the same is ridiculous. What, are you saying that it's so obvious what brand a steel bike is compared to another? Fat chance!!
Yes, there are knock-off carbon frames on the market. It's not like you can't find a cheap steel frame that looks identical to a Pegoretti without decals. It comes down to the fine details and quality construction.
Cross bikes are incredibly popular right now so I can see why Trek would be upset, but it does seem rather staged. You can guarantee that their competition is analyzing everything they see in that picture. They want to know if Trek decided to go ahead with thru-axle front and rear, internal hydraulic cable guides, etc. It's an arms race and it's good to know what your competition is doing so that you can react.
Oh yeah, plastic frames? Come on, that's old. I could say steel frames are just iron ore. |

The most distinctive crabon fibre bikes to me are the Pinarello's, with that 'onda' wavy fork and seat stays.
And the move away from actual, specific sizing to SM-M-L-XL frames is indicative of the nature of the crabon fibre beasts.
No, I don't have a crabon bike yet. Can crabon producers allow for a BB drain bole in the lay-up process, instead of folks perhaps voiding a frame warranty to drill one after purchase? |

Dale is correct , at least in that picture. To an untrained eye they do look alike. Steel is steel true but they are put together by hand with a bit of the masters soul embedded within those brazed steel tubes. Admittedly I'm a retro grouch through and through.

| Ironically the reason that there are far fewer custom frames in the pro peleton today is that the Carbon frames look too distinct to get away with just relabeling a frame, as was the custom in the steel frame days. |

Dale is INcorrect. Would anyone looking at my GIANT frame with its sloping TT and integrated seatmast confuse it with another "plastic" bike? Or any other bike for that matter? Idontthinkso -- seen here getting its seatmast cracked. (forgive the crazy bandwidth)
