Should you be racing de Panne? In my mind it is too close to race day with last weekend already having had hard racing. Not enough time for proper recovery even if you forego the final day as many do.

I dunno. You have to know yourself and your training program. I know that I don't do well when I take it too easy before a big event. These guys know what they are doing.

All I know is that I only see two big names for RVV on the dePanne start list (Terpstra, Sagan). This has been different in years' past. The philosophy around it seems to be changing, probably mostly driven by relative race stature (worldtour points) and risks of racing in days prior (crashes etc.). It's not like they took it easy last weekend; and that will take at least half a week to digest. I believe that is why Boonen started foregoing dePanne.

I will be interested to see if they both finish the event. Sagan has never finished De Panne.

I think Sagan has already said he will quit, or likely quit, before the final stage. I personally wouldn't race it...the cake has been baked at this point. You aren't going to lose or gain anything between now and Sunday. No need to risk a crash now....some good training, a little motor pacing and call it good.

Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

"They're using training as training and racing as racing, and when they come to race, they're ready to race."
