Question.  check out this photo from the 2009 TOC:

http://autobus.cyclingnews.com/photos/2009/feb09/california09/?id=/photos/2009/feb09/california09/california094/STAGESIDECLOVIS

In 7th place is Freddy Rodriguez - who is throwing his bike as if he is on the finish line.  Clearly he is about 15 - 20 meters from the line.  So my question is this... is this not the most brilliant move you've seen in a while?  He timed his throw as Cavendish is crossing the line and because of his timely throw he finishes ahead of Lucas Haedo.

are you sure that isn't time lapsed in some way to show the riders in order of their finish as they crossed the line?

I forgot I posted this little diddy - I'm not sure if this is time lapse. However, it looks like a snapshot in time when the first rider crossed the finish line...

The photo referenced is from a finish line camera and shows the relative positions of the riders at the finish line. The camera is shooting a sliver only a couple centimeters wide and then constructs the photo you see. The bike throw was made at the line, not that far back.
