Compound fractures are nasty beasts....recovery from them is rarely pretty, unfortunately.

I follow him on Twitter, the first day that he was on the recumbent there was a head-on shot that showed his leg, and it made my stomach turn a little.

I hope that he recovers well!

The surgeon likely looked at the rest of his body and knew he wasn't working on pristine canvas, not that he (she) didn't care but had more important stuff to be worried about when Taylor was opened and closed.

If he wanted to have some (slightly sick) fun in the future he could show up at the race he crashed in with those scars highlighted by a make-up artist.

It should look better with time, but probably not much. Let's hope he recovers physically, if not cosmetically.

This is mental toughness that I don't have.  The ability to think about racing a bike again after a crash like that is pretty amazing.  I hope he recovers and rides well again.
