No, I don't mean literally.  I have no idea how much it weighs or its size.  But he comes into the Vuelta with four weeks training after a broken leg.  (It's been six weeks, but it didn't heal the first two; not until after a second procedure.)

So he lines up with a squad that goes out and does a very respectable TTT.  Hangs on and finishes with them 18 seconds down on Moviestar.  He did that with a heartrate going to almost 200!

The guy's got the heart of a lion.  I have no idea what he can do when the mountain finishes come (very soon).  But already he has shown that if he is still riding, you cannot count him out.  The guy's just too tough.

Oh, this is the same guy who did a cat 1 climb while that leg was freshly broken!

So was his leg actually broken?

I bruised my shoulder and ribs during the same week that he crashed and still have trouble rolling over in bed.

I haven't heard one word to suggest that it wasn't. He did say soon after the Tour crash that he could put no downward pressure at all on the pedal when he tried to ride.

Spoiler!

The tough guy continues on. Hung in there to be the last to make the cut on the final climb. By doing so, moved up to 12th place, 19 seconds behind Quintana. That's scary!

Same ? As CP, we need our resident Doc to check the film. I love AC, well I love watching him race anyway. But how broken was his leg?

I believe I read hairline fracture somewhere this week.

Little chip and other minor fractures are still fractures. The bigger issue is soft tissue injury (ligaments, cartilage, etc). The forces on the ankle in cycling are pretty limited and it's possible he could be back pretty much 100% after less than 6 weeks with a minor fracture.

Contador. That is all.
