Wow, cool. Her coach, Matt Koschara, is my old homie. We raced as juniors. Did the Empire State Games together in 83. In the opening TT, he got fourth, I got last. :-)

Evie was smiling and talking to the press just a few minutes afterwards- a lot quicker recovery then the men I've seen. Maybe she didn't leave as much on the track as those men, or maybe this is just another example of how women can be tougher than men, smiling when in fact she felt like crap.
She was gracious as always afterwards, staying to sign autographs. Class act.

Embarrassing to have the commentators fail to understand the feed on her status for the entire ride. She was -1.1 or 1.2 from early on because she was on schedule to break the record by that many kilometers. It was simple arithmetic. The male commentator never understood that, kept saying it was seconds, or seconds/lap, and the female color commentator never got it either.

she is tough, gutted it out in the end, missed Longo's old superman record by 200 meters, less than one lap. Phinney was saying how mentally tough she was, she proved it.
Total class act LSD
