Tom Boonen as we all know and Mara Abbott at Redlands.  Abbott crashed and broke her collarbone early on, lost the jersey to Kristen Armstrong in the ITT and held on for second yesterday.  Tough woman.

A couple of seconds associated with no shame at all.  Both despite crashes that would pout most on the sidelines.

I have long seen Abbott as a class act.  Like Boonen, she just rose another notch in my book.  (I am a fan of her because she climbs like I do except God gave her the body of an elite rider instead of a barely Cat 2.  We even look similar on the bike uphill - except that grace bit.)

wow, now that woman is tough, I would have been crying for my mommy.......

on another note though, my man Contador shows them how it is done at Pais-Vasco, those two mtn stages, and the final ITT were fun to watch

damn, I didn't hear that about Abbott. What drives a person to keep racing with a broken collarbone?

CP, how about goals, ego, glory and $$?

Don't mean to imply anything by dredging this up: Ms. Abbott's story recalls Tyler Hamilton holding off entire teams to win a hard stage in the 2003 Tour - with a cracked collar bone. Yeah he was blood doped, yeah he cheated, but that ride still was an impressive ride in terms of drive and pain tolerance.

Finally, more praise for praiseworthy runners-up:
