A great guy, clean rider, friend and a killer sprinter takes the win at the US Pro crit championship.

Congratulations to local guy Brad Huff.

I've known Brad since he was a senior in high school when Bianchi was giving him EV2's (the frame Pantani raced on). Huff was breaking the frames on a regular basis back then... beast!

When he's not racing elsewhere he shows up for the local Tuesday night training race and regularly places a hand on the back of someone struggling up a climb to keep them in contention and otherwise gives encouragement and tips. He NEVER goes for the win, even though he could crush everyone out there, which is why his USACycling road racing rank is much lower than it should be. Zero ego.

Funny story though. A few years ago he was rolling around in the race and a local guy-- first time racing the A race, said something about the race not being as hard as he anticipated. Huff rolled to the front and dialed up the pace. Plenty of guys were hissing at the new guy... "Nice job, next time just shut up, OK?" LOL!

Good story Dale. What are the crit nats doing in April! And weren't those EV2's the frame where the tubes were so thin you could make them flex like a beer can just by pressing on them?

Those are the ones. Bianchi added some structural foam above the BB to add some strength but they we're still crazy light and Huff broke them as well.

I had one but never had any issues. Go figure

Another Huff story. At the Tour of Missouri before the TT in Branson I asked if I could take a pic of his quad next to mine so I could have an answer when (non-cycling) friends asked if I was going to race the Tour of Missouri. Yeah... middle age pack fill against Contador, Levi, Huff and a ton of other elites.

I'd ask them, since they play in the church league slow pitch softball tournaments, "You starting for the Cardinals this year? You have the same chance as me racing the ToM."
