Sunday's race, when Froome was far from the front, no teammates around - suppose he had no radio?  There goes the race, no one to help him, no one to consult, what would he do?  Maybe put his a** in gear because there are no other options.  Then it would be the break trying to stay away from a man riding like a Froome possessed who can see the tail end of the leaders.  I'd be rooting for Contador/Quintana, but if I were a betting man, the money wold be on Froome getting on.  Yes, Froome would lose out the final climb when this huge ffort would cost him, but what, 30 seconds?

We don't know that no radio would have helped,  We do know that race radio did not help Froome at all!

Maybe having your B-Team riding this race has a little to do with it?

The B-Team meant Froome couldn't pull out the usual Sky machine later in the race and reel everything up the road back. I"m talking about the decision making process in Froome's head as the break with Contador and Quintana pulled away. That was the moment for Froome to react. The guy's got an engine. Had he hit the front flying he would have had to bridge to the break from 30-40 seconds down. Not easy. But that was his Vuelta going up the road. It was do the super effort with no hesitation or hesitate and bleed minutes. He hesitated. And bled minutes.

And yes, if he had tried to bridge solo, the break would have perhaps even ridden harder knowing the race leader was chasing alone. Racing at its best. Froome makes it back on or looses even more than he did. But if he made it back on, even if he got dropped on the final climb, he's still be in red.

It was a tactical brain fart...the radio is just a communication device.

"But at the end of the day I don't think we were prepared for it, and clearly Nairo and Alberto were, so we got caught out."

Tactical brain fart, yes. But Froome had legs on Sunday. He showed that later. With the ride of his life (and jumping as soon as he saw the "Oh s***!", he probably could have kept himself in the race. Yes,it would have cost him dearly. It was his last chance to save his chance at winning.
